You think to yourself:

"Hmm. (2x - 1)(x + 3) is a quadratic with a positive x^2 term so it is
an upward opening parabola. I'm being asked for the part that lies
below the line y = 9. So, if either of the answers is correct, it must
be answer 2."

It is a "Look before you leap" question.
