A young Queens father who joined the Marines after 9/11 and died
laying the groundwork for the siege of Fallujah was buried yesterday
as his widow watched through tears.
Under a cloudless blue sky, a Marine honor guard carried the
flag-draped coffin of Lance Cpl. Jeffrey Lam, 22, from a Flu****ng
funeral home. Xu Li Hua Lam, 22, clutched a photo of her husband and
shook with grief as she watched his remains being loaded into a
hearse.
Lam drowned on Nov. 8 when a bulldozer he was operating rolled into
the Euphrates River, according to the military. He was working in
Iraq's Anbar province, helping dig a fighting position for the assaul
on the insurgent stronghold.
The Bronx High School of Science graduate was deployed in September,
just a month after his wife gave birth to their daughter, Teri.
