Elite high schools' quota upgraded
Nearly 5,000 students were accepted into the city's six elite public
high schools - 345 more than last year, Schools Chancellor Joel Klein
said yesterday.
Stuyvesant High was forced to accept more than 900 students this year
- 200 more than usual - because it invited too few to enroll last
year.
About 28,000 students took the tough entry exam for the schools, which
also include Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, the High School of American
Studies at Lehman College, Queens High School for the Sciences at York
College and the High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City
College.
