Hi - I am trying to fix a HP Compaq nx6125 running win XP Pro with ATI
Radeon Xpress 200M (V614.10.0310) graphics onboard. After a variable
period of time the machine was producing a stop error - thread stuck in
device driver (Q293078). The solutions offered were to install most
recent
video driver or decrease Hardware Acceleration.
Having installed the most recent driver available from HP I now find that
the message "VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no
longer responding to driver commands. " To return to hardware rendering
the
computer needs to be restarted. If it isn't restarted it continues to
function with a lower brightness level and a slightly fuzzier picture.
If the laptop is connected to an external monitor there is no degradation
in
the picture quality after it has switched to software rendering.
What should I conclude from this? I just can't work it out. Am I dealing
with a hardware problem related to the display or the onboard video chip
or
is this a driver software issue. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
