vpn connection in windows xp

by Drew <drew@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 14, 2008 at 01:42 PM

Hi Gang:

This is probably off topic a bit but I'm sure the regulars in here
will know.

How secure is just a regular Microsoft VPN connection? Once you are
authenticated, everything is encrypted I know.

But what about the process of authentication with the RRAS server? Is
that username and password going across the wire in clear text?

Just curious. A couple of sales folks have been telling us that
Microsoft VPN connections don't conform to some security standards and
that something like Checkpoint's SecureRemote should be used to
conform.

Thanks!
Drew
