Gaza doctors say patients suffering mystery injuries after Israeli attacks
http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,1924675,00.html
Doctors said that, unlike traditional combat injuries, there was
no large shrapnel found in the bodies and there appeared to
be a "dusting" on damaged internal organs.
It is not clear whether the injuries come from a new weapon.
The Israeli military declined to detail the weapons in its arsenal,
but denied re****ts that the injuries came from a
Dense Inert Metal Explosive (Dime), an experimental weapon.
The weapon is new and in the US it is still in the early stages
of development. It has a carbon-fibre casing and contains fine
tungsten particles rather than ordinary metal shrapnel.
It causes a very powerful blast, but with a much more limited
radius than other explosives.

"We are mortgaging our future on this war," said one lobbyist,
who represents several major defense companies.
"Most people want to see the war over to go to the
next-generation weapons." ... "A lot of the money is spent
repleni****ng systems," said the lobbyist.
"War is not good for business. The industry wants to produce the
new stuff rather than see the money go to the war." ...

AFRL is currently utilizing high-fidelity physics-based simulations
to aid in the design and testing of low-collateral-damage (LCD) munitions.
LCD munitions will benefit the warfighter during urban conflicts
where standard munitions would inflict unacceptable collateral damage
levels.
The warhead explosive fill is a dense inert metal explosive containing
fine tungsten particles to provide a ballasted payload with sufficient
penetration mass. The tungsten displaces energetic material so as to
reduce the total energetic used. The net results are higher dynamic energy
impulse all within a small lethal footprint.
Previous scaled tests show that the carbon composite casing breaks up
into small harmless fibers during the detonation event, effectively
removing fragmentation as a lethal mechanism to nearby collateral assets.

Neutron bomb:

One significant drawback of the weapon is that not all targeted troops
will die or be incapacitated immediately. After a brief bout of nausea,
many of those hit with about 5-50 Sv of radiation will experience a
tem****ary recovery lasting days to weeks. It has been suggested that
these troops, knowing that they are likely to die soon anyway,
may fight fanatically, without the usual regard for their own well-being.
Some authorities say that due to the rapid attenuation of neutron energy
by the atmosphere ER weapons are onlyeffective at short ranges,
and thus are practical only in relatively low yields.
These same authorities say that the common perception of the
neutron bomb as a "landlord bomb" that would kill people but
leave buildings undamaged is greatly overstated.

Bush, the self-proclaimed slum lord:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_renewal
Urban renewal is controversial, as it often implies the use of
eminent domain law to enforce reclaiming private property for
civic projects. While envisioned as a way to redevelop residential
slums and blighted commercial areas, "renewal" often resulted
in the creation of urban sprawls --- vast areas being demolished
and replaced by freeways and expressways, housing projects,
and vacant lots--some of which remained vacant at the beginning
of the 21st century.
While renewal projects did revitalize many cities, it was often at a
high cost to existing communities, and in many cases simply resulted
in the destruction of vibrant --if run-down-- neighborhoods.
Urban renewal in its original form has been called a failure by many
urban planners and civic leaders, and has since been reformulated
with a focus on redevelopment of existing communities.
