Thanks, but it is way behind us. My older son is out of college, in grad 
school, working full time, traveling a heck of a lot more that we are, 
and is living on his own. He volunteers at a school for kids with 
special needs one evening a week and alternate weekends.

My younger son graduated HS and is embarking on a transitional year 
where his school and a university will help him make the transition 
while he earns 18 college credits.

Oh, and as for my wife and I, we did enjoy our first childless week in 
23 years back in April when younger son went to a sleep away camp for 
the first time. Otherwise, it has been 24/7/365 since August 1983 
(except for one night for 25 anniversary).

Another point I want to make is that special needs parents often do not 
have a sufficient sup****t system whereby they can get time off. What 
also irritated me about the original comments was the idea that they 
wanted babysitting services. Respite programs are dimini****ng rapidly, 
especially since the cut backs in social service funding under Reagan.
