Is intercepting mail unethical?

by "Piet van Rensburg" <nospam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 15, 2005 at 10:37 PM

I think I should be able to slant my company however i feel like it and
bloody see fit.... This hypemail thing is bull... If I want to send
sensitive information about my company I bloody should be able to do so.
What do you guys think about this press release:

------Cut------
Internet service and solutions provider Pakam, has unveiled their new
range
of email products under the brand Hypemail. Hypemail is set to cause major
uproar in the industry as some feel that one of the products may cause
legal
problems with internet privacy. One of their main products called
SensyCheck
is installed onto an organization email servers and scans all outgoing
email
of the organization for sensitive information defined by specific keywords
and phrases. These emails are then intercepted and routed to a predefined
SensyCheck Administrator for approval. The administrator may then decide
whether or not the mail contains information that the assigned receiver
should not be entitled receive and reject or approve the mail accordingly.
When approved, the mail sending process resumes as per normal. Many
companies have recently implemented clauses in their employee contracts
that
allow them to intercept such emails yet some feel that this is still
invasion of privacy.

Privacy has long been one of the main benefits of the internet, but it
seems
that this is starting to change. With new legislation about email backup
and
archiving, privacy for employees on the internet is becoming a thing of
the
past.

Another Hypemail product also brands everyday outgoing email and the
benefit
to organizations using Hypemail and Hypemail SensyCheck seems to be
enormous. Both from a marketing perspective and email control perspective.

Hypemail offers re****ts to Hypemail email administrators as well as a
company's marketing department on the success of email branding campaigns
in
every day email as well as the success of the SensyCheck product and what
information has been intercepted from outgoing emails.

"The benefit of SensyCheck over normal Mail Marshal Applications is that
it
moves the focus from incoming email traffic to outgoing traffic. In other
words it monitors sensitive business information leaving your company
through everyday emails" says Hypemail developer Fanie Oosthuysen. Pakam
believes that their Hypemail SensyCheck product is something no
organization
should be without. "It should be a main consideration of any organization
next to spam protection." says Pierre Hefer.

Although some feel that privacy should be looked at once more, Hypemail is
ready for the market and could be implemented in many organizations before
the end of this year and the everyday employee must become aware of the
fact
that the email containing sensitive or privileged information from their
organizations email servers may be intercepted.

More information about the Hypemail range of products may be found at the
