Some grave concerns to the US education

In the past 15 years I have noticed a steady decline of my students' 
quality and attitudes. They are less prepared and getting lazier. Their 
interests have ****fted from learning and curiosity to simply getting "good

grades" without willing to put out the effort. To my dismay, I learned
that 
my observations were shared by my colleagues in their cl*****.

So, where is the source of the problem? Failure in elementary, junior and 
senior high school education? Parents? Teachers? Society? All of the
above?

What is really disappointing is the careless attitudes from the university

administrators, who seem to care more about money than the substance of 
education. 

If this is a nationwide problem, then the US is in more trouble than we 
would ever imagine to be.
