schools are powerful in the pinas.    when i was still  there if you
cut class or get diciplined they dont have detention. they  make you
stand in front of the flagpole for an hour  without moving.  worse  if
they let you carry a chair in top of your  head or  make  you squat
for a few  minutes . walang patawad. the dean in charge of all this was
an ex military guy .
