Here's an interesting story. For those of us that have been saying
McCain is a leftist candidate, and Obama is moving to the right, we
have this new story. According to this link (re****ted in the New York
Times, as well)...
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0708/11842.html
McCain is considering putting Joe Lieberman (2000 Democrat VP
candidate) on his ticket (old news), and...now...Obama is considering
putting Hegel (an anti-abortion REPUBLICAN) on his ticket as Vice
President. Either McCain is so far to the left that Obama looks
conservative, or Obama is trying to steal the conservatives from the
Republican party (who are offended by the McCain choice and are larger
than the liberal base Obama would lose in the process). Up till now,
I've been predicting a liberal McCain failure followed by a right
swing of the party, after the loss. However, we could be seeing the
beginnings of a complete reversal of parties on the issues, which has
happened a few times before in political history.
One more note on the VP pick considerations, above. This link...
http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.631/pub_detail.asp
....has an article with Jewish groups condemning Obama for inviting
Hagel in a trip to Israel, while praising McCain for taking Lieberman.
