I know of NO newspaper that will automatically publish someone's work,
without any editorial input and control, just because an opponent of
the submitter in an upcoming election got something published.

Imagine how that would have worked in the early primary season, when
there were close to a dozen candidates in each party.  (note also that
it is still technically primary season - neither candidate is actually
the nominee of their party yet - only presumptive nominees).
