Somebody should shoot the assholes at that fraternity for letting MTV
film their pledge program. Ofcourse they weren't real fraternity
brothers or they would never have allowed such a thing to happen. They
were just some ***** ass wannabies who couldn't get into a real
national fraternity. But they managed to do more damage to the image
of fraternity in general because most people don't know that what they
were doing is not what really goes on in a fraternity. I hate MTV and
I wish people would stop watching it. All they do is make young adults
look like a bunch of drunks, druggies and *** fiends. (While some of
us are sometimes we certainly don't need a damned cable channel
advertising and encouraging that behavior.) Problem is fraternities
have gotten a bad name because of a few rotten apples so it's
increasingly hard to recruit anyone and those guys that do join up
tend to be interested for the wrong reasons. They want to party and
screw but they don't want to be brothers. The result of all of this is
you get an increasing number of bad apples who go on to reinforce the
image that we're all a bunch of screw ups which gives universities an
excuse to try to break down the greek system. The whole situation
sucks and I'm not really sure how to go about fixing it. I'd hate to
see my fraternity go down the toilet because it is one of the best
things in my life. I love my fraternity and my brothers like they were
my biological family. I want there to be someplace to come back to in
ten years and the negative stereotypes are endangering the survival of
our house. It pisses me off.
