Some download installations, I think Adobe is one of them, have a tick
box with 'install google toolbar' already ticked. If you don't spot it
and just go with auto install you get the toolbar, however, it should
be (at least for those who watch out for naughties) easy to spot and
un-tick. The toolbar is very easy to remove once it's been installed.
I don't have it but my ISP in one of their major upgrades did install
their own version which also forced auto-connect to their home pages.
I took that off the minute I found it.
