Heh, heh, heh. I know I can eliminate THAT possibility! :-) Even when I
was growing up there, I didn't know any family who "went on holiday!"
No, not one. 

The only time a whole family left was when they went as a family
somewhere to pick cotton... known as "they're gone on the cotton
harvest." And even then one or two were usually left at home. 

But even that was not commonplace for our community, and only one or two
families did it. 
I was blessed not to have to do that, but it sounded pretty exotic at
the time.
