Google translate recently added sup****t for a lot more languages,
including Norwegian, Romanian and Hindi. Since it is probably the best
machine translator around, I thought it was exciting. But what might
be interesting for people here is the autodetection feature. I pasted
in a snippet of text from soc.culture.esperanto, and what did it say?
We are not yet able to translate from Esperanto into English.
But they detected it correctly! Wow. Just for fun, I started of
translating a pig elvish sentence:
Ym=E9n =E1m=EBn=EB s=ED=E9n Nig=F3ith Ontoy=E1m=EB. Rep=E4rep=FA
oten=
=EDeden!
=2E.. and got back
We are not yet able to translate from Azerbaijani into
English.
Funny! How about
tlhIngan maH!
We are not yet able to translate from Turkish into English.
but
Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam
came out as Hungarian.
But how about your pet languages? Eurana -> Italian. Sasxsek ->
Polish, Vorlin -> Czech, Norhasul -> Malay, Arka->Swedish, Lojban-
>Esperanto :-) Mondial->Spanish, Novial->Malay, Volap=FCk->Swedish.
Care to add any more?
