Back when I had dialup (usually around 24K) I used to run long
downloads overnight.  I always kept the connection up on a
dedicated line anyway.

Another option is to publish in PDF and have a hard version
available on Lulu.  That would take care of the publi****ng costs
for those interested in the paper edition.
