Lulu just did the printing; I designed the cover, not very well I
think. I wanted to do a collage of invented scripts, on the one hand,
but I didn't want to ask permission to use other people's scripts
because I didn't want to reveal the magazine project to many people
before it got published, so I was limited to what I could pull out of
my own archives.
The molecule thing is a rough draft of a writing system that combines
"atoms of meaning". The t-with-a-bar-through-it means "on the topic
of," the diamond of four symbols means "regular interval text bundle,"
and the clump of 8 symbols means "deliberately created languages."
The thing in the lower left is a random bunch of characters from a
cipher I've made, based on the Myanmar (Burmese) writing system.
Naturally I came up with a much better idea for a cover illustration
after I had already started distributing this one :-)
