i was just pondering again the idea of smaller steps to reform. it
could be that a smaller, less radical reform is more feasible now
while more complete reforms could be put off till later. i can think
of a pretty easy way to approach an initial reform. the radical
approach i've been using is a one- letter-combination-for-every-sound
approach. a lesser reform that could still be viable and helpful is
to just focus on getting rid of the letter combinations that make the
least sense.
i'm just pondering this idea, and am open to your suggestions as to
how a lesser reform might be structured. i think i'll start using
this less-radical approach in some of my communications and see how it
goes. one great place to start is the different ways the /U/ sound as
in "would", "could", "foot", and "book" is represented. they could
all be simplified and represented as "uh" (as in my full reform). so
that
would > wuhd
could > cuhd
foot > fuht
book > buhk
i also think "c"s that sound like "k" shuhd be spelled with a "k".
cuhd (could) > kuhd
school > skool
not bad so far. all your ideas and feedback are welcome. (it
probably makes sense to keep "ck"s as in "truck" as they are for now.)
