Silent K and queue oh my!

by "Antonella" <xania21it@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 6, 2005 at 04:18 PM

Talking about English spelling and being Italian well, I must talk about
the
silent k's ... I just wonder who invented them.. hehe.. what are they
for???
:D Anyone can explain this? Someone told me time ago their purpose it to
distinguish from similar words, like "knight" and "night", "know" and
"now"... but please, there is one thing I do not understand... if you need
to put a k to distinguish them, then why do you pronounce them the same
way???????????? :D

Because you know, when you talk, you can't distinguish them anymore hehe
:D

And also, who invented the spelling for "queue".... tell me please, I
wanna
kill him :D
