Spelling and Grammar rant

by "JR" <john.redpath@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 30, 2007 at 10:08 PM

As this thread seems to be totally empty, maybe no-one is concerned about
spelling and grammar any more. It's late and I'm going to bed soon but
just
to kick off, what is it with the spelling of "loose" when it should be
"lose". This permeates the Internet and I have even come across it in a
training resource my company uses.

Also, why do we let word-viruses creep into our language. I used to hate
"no
way" but grew to accept it and was cheered when the response "Way!" was
coined to counter this stupid phrase. But that's old hat - the latest is
the
pseudo accounting term "going forward". This drives me nuts. Why do people

speaking in "business speak" have to end their phrasing with "... going
forward". What was wrong with "in future", or "from now on" etc. "Going
forward" is a meaningless, trite and pretentious accounting term that
people
like to use to sound business savvy. It's WRONG and should be stopped. Now
I
have a headache. Good night.
