Grammar question

by "Muni" <sshomi@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 25, 2006 at 08:00 AM

Hello,

I've been learning Hindi from various "teach yourself Hindi" books and
often encounter phrases in Hindi songs that don't fit any of the
grammatical structures in the books. Some examples from song titles
are: Doob Jaana Re, Dil Se Re, O Re Kanchi and O Saathi Re. The
meanings of these titles make more sense to me with "re" left out.
With "re" included, I can only conclude that it might be some emphasis
word like "hi" or "toh." Is this understanding correct?

Munni
