There must be a way!
Follow me through these cultural and historical ramblings. And then
either condemn me as a madman or grant me some insight into language,
truth and logic.

"Oops" sounds very petite bourgeoisie to me. It calls forth far more
working meaning under a lower middle-class paradigm than any other. But
even there it's subject to so much case-sensitivity (by which I mean
subjective rather than objective semantics) that it cannot be pointed
at, described in language or otherwise granted a meaning.

What is the difference between "oops" and "harrumph"?
When is an "oops" not an "oops"?
In what everyday situations does "oops" occur? And how do the
participating language-users react to it?
Did Plato ever claim that there was an ideal form of "oops"?
Are there recognised orthodox reactions to "oops" as well as heterodox
ones?
What if we asked a class of nine year olds to draw "oops"? And then gave
them homework for tonight "to find out the true meaning of "oops"?
Look at this; http://tinyurl.com/2fzz55;
62 million Google hits for
"oops".
