Dear Latinists,
Quite a spread here!
Trio Vir
Trini Lupi
tres homines
Triumviratus
trias canentium
Trio Triumvirum
Saecula crudelissima
Trina Crura
OK, well, Trina Crura is out, though I don=92t mind Alastor=92s joke
myself (it took me a little while to figure out what he meant=85).
Wouldn=92t Trini Lupi be =93three wolves=94?
Saecula crudelissima seems a little, er, judgmental=85 There is a lot
of quite compelling music from this period, much of it anonymously
composed. Think P*****n, Philipp de Vitry, Guillaume de Machaut.
Often it=92s in a triple meter, with a sort-of swinging bounce to it,
lots of piquant dissonances, occasional double-leading-tone candences,
and open-fifth resolutions. Sparkling!
I=92m still a bit partial to my original, Trio Vir, simply because it=92s
short and sweet. Or maybe Trium Virum, for the same reason. But I=92m
still open to suggestion!
Thanks again for all your astute creativity.
