Re: why i can't change my state?

Note that in my above reply I did not mean that I can directly control
my mood with my mind. What I meant was that this helps me deal with my
depression on a day to day basis so it has less control over my life.

Partly what leads to depression is failure in life, which can lead to
more failure. To try and break this cycle you have to exercise your
will power to be proactive. Thats what I meant when to stop thinking
about your ****y state, and just let yourself suceed in life. This
will help you break away from the fear of continued failure and
depression, which may lead to sucess, which may lead to an improvement
in mood.

Weather this is what is happening in your case I cannot say.

In general though I agree with Unka's reply. Go back to the basics, are
you getting enough sleep, enough to eat, do you like your job, are you
getting exercise, sunlight (I belive this can impact mood), enough
water, ect. Do you have any hobbies you enjoy doing? Next time you feel
like **** don't just sit around feeling like ****, try doing something
you enjoy, or cleaning, I find this helps me. Maybe listen to some
music. If you are tired in the morning/day than drink small amounts of
cofee. I find it only takes a quarter to half a cup to perk me up
enough when I'm really down (which is usually because I'm tired).

I have recently been using melatonin which helps alot in getting to
sleep. I am fairly certain that a lot of my depression problems (but
not all) are related to sleep in some way or another. The mind just
doesn't want to tackle the day to day problems needed to suceed in life
when its deprived of sleep, which leads to failure which leads to more
depression and fear of failure which in turn leads to more failure and
depression, which may lead to more sleep problems!

I have more recently been trying St. Johns Wort to see if this has any
effect. It seems to but I need more time to know for sure.

I belive a big hurtle to get over is that when you are depressed you
are paralyzed in a way. How can you take the steps necessary to beat
depression when your mind is paralyzed by it? I suggest to get started
just go buy some red bulls and dose up on caffine. This will get your
mind working, then do some research into different
methods/lifestyles/herbs/drugs to produce a more long lasting effect on
mood. Also do an analysis of your own life on where and what you can
change to help. Remember the basic necesseties, and if you are getting
enough of them! Write things down because I know its easy to forget
when your mind goes back to being depressed.

Ultimately sometimes the mind is just plain ****ed up and needs you to
make the necessary steps to fix things. This more than anything else is
how you can affect your mood.

Hope this helps just a little, and good luck
-Andrew
