The Roots of Language Association

by "Dan Scorpio" <nonospam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 9, 2006 at 08:02 PM

every single word we utter
every word we hear
comprises a tiny metaphor
a micro-metaphor
which we decode
understand
and assimilate
into our world
or apparent knowing
by referring back
in physical sense memory
to sensations that we once had
re-sensing them
re-energizing them
microscopically
as the word stream proceeds

and as each of us
has different memories
different associations
with any given word
then our interpretations
will necessarily differ
and thus it occurs
that no word possesses universal meaning
that a simple sentence
has a myriad of micro-meanings
....but one can point out
the directions to a particular city
with a reasonably coherent set of signposts
that lead the traveller
to that city
whatever the starting point might be.

in this manner
one might drink deep of the spring
that fills the endless seas
and lights the stars:

in love wisdom
arises insight
compassion
intelligence and light
stillness
forgiveness
and silence
concentrating into one point
revealing the whole
the inneffable
in every apparent fragment
immensity arisng in the heart
in the nature of feeling
of all things

inexpressible
elicit bliss in seeking
by open window

and more than words
every experience we experience
comprises a tiny drama
a micro-drama
which we decode
understand
and assimilate
into our world
into our perceptive frame
our apparent knowing
by referring back
comparing
appraising
in physical sense memory
the present sensations
to sensations that we once had
re-sensing them
firing anchors
re-energizing them
as knowing in the modes
microscopically
as stream of sensation proceeds
in that we know
as knowing
