The Butcher Shop and Grill is excellent. One of those restaurants
where one orders meat, plus a separate order for potato and a
separate order for mushrooms and a separate order for vegetables and
a separate order for whatever elsoe one wants. Quite the opposite
of those "eat as much as you like" buffets that are often quite,
quite revolting. Of course, this costs quite a lot. I have only
ever eaten at The Butcher Shop twice. I purchased a fillet from
them once which they prepared into carpaccio for a dinner party. I
discussed it on s.c.s-a at the time.
I've never been able to understand the obsession with T-bone steaks.
A T-bone is essentially two different steaks and needs two different
treatments so it is devilish difficult to prepare well.
Pinotage is an excellent wine with a steak. It's often overpowering
for food with more delicate flavours.
