My suggestion is:
1=2E start with MSA (there is no way out). Learning Arabic without its
writing system is in our age not helpful at all. Starting with a
dialect and then MSA is not recommendable. either. You can learnt MSA
outside the Arab world.
2=2E As has already been suggested Egyptian spoken language is the most
widespread and acceptable (and often perceived as most beautiful) .
Here I recommend to be in that part of the Arab ypu have chosen for at
least one year in addition to lessons but don't  depend completely on
some books suggested.
