upstairs vs. up stairs etc.

by "good ol' Bob" <bob=n=gin@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 25, 2008 at 03:14 PM

Is there a word or term for the use or misuse of words such as up stairs or

never the less etc. when one should be using upstairs or nevertheless etc.

I often see posters on various groups make the mistake of using separate
words when the combination of those words forms the word they meant to or
should have used. Just curious.

Thanks if anyone knows.
