Cheannar translation help!

by "Ceilidh" <Ceilidh@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 28, 2003 at 01:51 PM

I am a novice, I admit. I started learning Gaelic and got hung up on all
the
(non) rules for the many versions of "the".

So, if you wouldn't mind helping...

I am looking for the spelling and pronounciation of a Gaelic word. It may
actually be Scots Gaelic, but I will let you all have at it.

The meaning is "fire" and more literally "the fire that drives your soul".
I
was told it is the word Cheannar, although that may be spelled wrong.

I have discovered these as the closest matches:

Cheana--gaelic--already
Cheann--gaelic--head or lead
Chenney--manx--elemental fire
Chennar--manx--birth
Cinaed--gaelic--born of fire
Chenjean--manx--beacon or fire

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
