Thanks, all, for your input.  I've actually got the "learn Irish CD",
and it's a usefull addition to the Pimsleur course I took.

I've been to Ireland 6 times now, over the last 5 years.  I love the
country and the people.  I spend all my time in the west, thus my
desire and inspiriation to learn.

I suspect my best course at this time would be to hang out in local
pubs in search of an irish speaker.
