uileacan

by "Brian Anthony Farrelly" <afarrell@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 26, 2004 at 08:32 AM

Uileacan dubh O!

What does uileacan mean? Complete something or other, but what? I have
tried
several dictionaries without success.

The word is used in the refrain of 'The fair hills of Ireland' by Sir
Samuel Ferguson 1810-1886,
and the poem is marked 'from the Irish'.
