A shot in the dark

by ToolPackinMama <laura@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 4, 2005 at 11:51 PM

My father used to say some unusual things and I always believed it was
because his parents were Irish, and had taught him their slang, etc.

One that has always mystified me is something he said when he wanted my
brothers to tidy their appearance.

"Tuck your ****rt in, you look like ~plucklaplen~". Plucklaplen was a
messy person, it seems.

I have no idea how that word is spelled, or it is a word or a phrase, or
if it is a proper name. I don't know if it's Irish, or what. All I
know is I never heard it anywhere else except from my father in my
childhood home.

Is it Irish? Anyone have any idea? Please email your reply, and thanks.
