Boots Randolph, saxphonist best know for the 1963 hit "Yakety sax" died
on Tuesday in Nashville. He was 80. Randolph suffered a cerebral
hemorrhage on June 25 and had been hospitalized in a coma. Randolph had
been the Guest Star on the Jimmy Sturr Christmas Shows for a number of
years and performed with the band in other venues as well. Boots
Randolph is well know for his tune "Yakety Sax" and has recorded with
many artists including Brenda Lee's "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree"
and "I'm Sorry". REO Speedwagon "Little Queenie", Al Hirts "Java" and
with Jimmy Sturr and His Orchestra "Tavern in The Town" and "The Yakety
Sax Polka". Boots Randolph was a great player and a true gentlemen he
will be missed by all. Our condolences and prayers go out to his family.
