Working out length and thickness of a coiled-up spring.

by "Richard" <donotuse@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 13, 2008 at 09:52 AM

I've got some watch springs that are coiled up and I want to calculate the
spring thickness and length. I can measure the outside diam.and inside
diam.
of the coil itsself, (or the thickness of the coil from outside to
inside).
Anyone know a formula so I can work out the thickness and the length of
spring? I cannot use a formula that requires me to know the spring
thickness. TIA.
