Wait till the outside is cool enough to touch.  If it's too hot to 
touch,  the inside will be too hot to eat without blistering your mouth.

Use clean tea towel or an oven cloth or whatever, hold the base of the 
cob, pull leaves down, hold by leaves and gnaw your way around & down. 
Maximum yum!  Forget the salt & butter, its own flavour is too delicious 
to alter with those standard additives.
