Notice x /= 1.

(1 + x +..+ x^n)(1 - x) = 1 - x^(n+1) = 0

x^(n+1) = 1.

There are n + 1 solutions to that equation,
n of which are not 1.

x is any n+1 st root of 1 other than 1.

Clearly the diligent student knows what all n + 1 are.
