You might want to consider that people read sci.math (or whatever
newsgroup) via regular usenet channels, as well as via Google Groups.
I don't know what the relative user size of each is, but if you could
estimate that number, you could use that to estimate how many
visitors with no re****ted referrer might be coming from "regular"
usenet.
