My car has a binary dashboard light for highbeam headlights. My microwave 
has a scrolling text window that prints "food is ready" when its finished 
cooking. Both of these things are a binary true/false bit of information.
Is 
the food ready? Are the highbeams on? It is sufficient to answer these 
questions yes/no.

But the information "the food you recently cooked in your microwave has 
finished cooking" is not contained in a single bit.
