problem is on the list of at home work but I am stuck and there is
no example of how to do this problem in the book? CAN ANY ONE HELP???
**** PROBLEM ****
Suppose you were an alien living on the fictitious warlike planet
Myrmidon and you wanted to measure its size. The Sun is ****ning
directly down a missile silo 1000 miles to your south, while at your
location, the Sun is 36° from straight overhead. What is the
cir***ference of Myrmidon? What is its radius?
******
HELP!!!!!
If you draw a line from the sun to the center of Myrmidon, it crosses the
missile silo.
Then draw a line from your position to the center of Myrmidon. Those two
lines make an angle of 36°, which is 1/10 of the cir***ference of
Myrmidon.
So the cir***ference of Myrmidon is 10 * 1000 miles = 10,000 miles.
