Adult Education in Ontario

by oaeinet@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Jun 15, 2008 at 07:58 PM

Hello, adult educators:

I am mostly addressing teachers with OCT accreditation, who deliver
secondary school credits to adults. I have a desire to give a voice to
adult educators in Ontario, since you are already probably aware that
you are being under-represented. You are working twice the hours for
less than full time salary if you were in the regular system. You
often begin the semester with cl***** containing more than 35
students. Sometimes, as many as 55 students.

You administrator would rather throw out teaching equipment if it gets
in the way of putting more desks in the classroom. The funding formula
has turned adult ed into such a numbers game that it seems as though
nothing else matters except the numbers. Not even the quality of
education for your students.

If you are in Ontario and reading this, reply to this with your own
story. I wish to add these (or a summary of them as a whole) to a blog
for the Ontario Adult Education Information Network, with your
permission. I will try not to identify anyone, to protect the
innocent.

Thanks for your participation!

The website name (actually it is a blog) is http://oaeinet.wordpress.com/
