Hey, you're all missing something crucial:
What kind of person types in something like this, conflating obscure
medieval prophecies with astrology and a Ben Stein movie, for crimony's
sakes, and then TAKES THE TIME TO CHOOSE WORDS TO CREATE A NEAR-PERFECT
RIGHT FLUSH EDGE? I mean, this guy didn't even cheat by using
occasional double spaces to pad things out. It looks like he actually
CRAFTED HIS WRITING to achieve this goal.
Apparently, though, while he has no compunction about having superfluous
punctuation messing up the right edge (see last paragraph, below, in
particular), use of punctuation WITHIN a line is OK to make a line pad
out. This can be in the form of dropping punctuation (as in the
grammatically required comma between "December 21st" and "2012") or
adding unneeded punctuation (as in the excess comma in "Remember the
prophecies of S. Malachy, that"). I do find it disturbing that the
grammatical misdemeanor of that extra comma was used instead of the
seemingly more appropriate solution of simply adding the missing "t" to
"St. Malachy" instead of leaving the rather odd "S. Malachy".
More disturbing is the author's sudden uncertainty to the desired number
of characters in the lines of the second paragraph below. Halway
through the author speaks of pestilence killing five billion people, so
maybe he felt he should start now in conserving paragraph widths. But
by the last line, and then in the full third paragraph, the extra
character width is back. I don't get it. This seems like a wild
discontinuity merely to preserve the prose of "iron mixed with miry
clay". What is "miry clay" anyway?
