I live in a place where the gov. does little to oversee doctors and
where the hospital is short of surgeons and people are dieing everyday
as a result.
I need to go in for a simple hernia operation, which I have been
avoiding because I don't trust the doctors or hospital here. Supposedly
it is a teaching hospital, but you could have fooled me, judging from
the negative press it gets and the number of accident victims that don't
make it here.
What can I do to reduce my risks of surgical or hospital error? Should I
bring a nurse with me; at what point in the process? Any helpful answers
most appreciated.
