Google as I understand archives newsgroups and
also allows moderated newsgroups.  Usenet begun
before google and uses NNTP protocol while
google archived newsgroups are internet web accessible
via the protocol HTTP.

I have access to internet and am therefore able to access
google provided web pages, like for example :
http://groups.google.com/group/soc.culture.usa/topics?lnk=gschg

However I prefer to access using NNTP because it is more easier
to see the latest posts without doing a visual search as I would
have to do if I use google.

I do not use MAC. However I do use both microsoft OS and Linux OS.
Via both I could access internet using HTTP browser and usenet using
NNTP reader.

Therefore there is no chance that I would miss any posting unless I
had to access the usenet only after a few days of break and the
service providers had via moderation had deleted certain posts.
