In science one makes observations and deduced based on them what the
world is like and then makes some more observations to see if one's
deductions are true or false. So the whole of science is based on the
observations being correct and unbiased. It is the better the more
sure one can be about the observations, so it is better to make as
many sure observations as possible instead of the few only.
Science is taught in schools. The ideal is that all the pupils would
take a look at their own experience of life, see its complexity and
understand via that how many factors there are affecting each
experiment. So the pupils could learn which things are sure and which
not. Like in physics: a ball falls according to what is taught in
school but a toy pulled by a string jumbs around in an unpredictable
manner even though there is clearly some friction too. So one ought to
learn the connection of the theory and practise, which is sometimes
very sure and sometimes almost negligible.
Likewise is all objectivity based on somebody's own observations about
the world and about the trustworthiness of each source of information.
One ought never trust only the words of others but make everything
sure by oneself. Only that makes you a truly rational person, only
that makes the level of theory correlate with the world in practise.
But in order to do so, you must observe yourself as an observer: the
eyes are quite trustworthy but may be less reliable when you are
really tired or when it is dark. Your judgements about the states of
mind of others depend on how much thinking you mix to your
observations and how much you rely on the direct sensations in their
undisturbed, uninterpreted form. And the reliability of your
judgements about your own state of mind depends on how much you mix
social position to those judgements. Besides that, you need to know
how you are concentrated each moment: on hearing, seeing, thinking,
beauty, ***, feelings, social sensations, social position, remembering
something or whatever... Those subjects of concentration you do well
at that moment but neglect other things.
