Regarding "The Bell Curve"... Although I don't normally recommend
Wikipedia as a reference, its article on the book is remarkably
even-handed and has links to a variety of non-Wikipedia sources that
variously sup****t and condemn the book. There is a lot of non-science
on both sides of the issues presented in the book, but lot of good
science as well. The controversy the book stirred up, however, depends
less on the scientific underpinnings than on the questionable nature of
the book's conclusions and its manipulation of statistics.
