a) What does it mean? Volcanos under the antarctic ice cap? Solar
heating, or CO2?
b) "Rapidly" relative to what? Again, you need a solid record for
comparison, and our observations don't go back all that far.

Yes, we do. The Younger Dryas came on in a few decades. Ditto the
Little Ice Age and the Medieval warming that preceeded the 50 years of
cooling before the Black Death.
