A Parent's Understanding

Subject: A Parent's Understanding
John Taylor Gatto in his book A Different Kind of Teacher really sums
up what I have found as part and parcel of the working philosophy at
Linda Christas, although to my knowledge there is no affiliation
(except a philosophical one) between Mr. Gatto and Linda Christas.
Linda Christas has never made a decision about our daughter Angela's
education for the benefit of administrative efficiency.
She has never had to stop something she was interested in to answer to
a bell, horn or claxon. As a result, she is interested in a lot of
things, and the message that she constantly gets from her experience
with education is that there are some things that are more im****tant
than learning to respond like a rat in a maze at a building
administrators call a school.
She has learned to lead with her strengths in her life, has learned how
to develop them and herself to the best possible advantage.
She is never assigned anything by Linda Christas that is not subject to
her review, and in line with her interests, aptitudes, skill levels and
learning style.
Linda Christas, in other words, is providing our daughter with an
education. She is being taught to lead with her strength.
It is courageous people like John Gatto, now retired Teacher of the
year in New York, and, schools like Linda Christas that are the future
of education in America.
