Study Literature or History for graduate work in Literary History?

by "nrav" <nickravo1@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 12, 2007 at 03:45 PM

My history interests are largely cultural and intellectual, although
not exclusively; political and economic interest me, as well. But
literary history seems to be the most intriguing area, so should I
purse work in History or English/Literature? The history or even
American Studies doctorate seems much more useful (employable) than an
English or Lit degree, but most of the history programs seemed geared
to political history. Thoughts?
