There is a sup****t forum for Maxtor external drives (which have been
bought by Seagate) at

The fact you have a circled "M" on your taskbar suggests you are using
the Maxtor backup program, for which there is an update available on the
Maxtor/Seagate website.  There should also be a log on your computer
somewhere of attempted backups.   If you search your computer for
maxback*.log you should find it.  You can then post extracts to the
sup****t forum for detailed advice.
